Every week Beyond Style Palm Beach will focus on one Island trendsetter for 5 on Fashion. We carefully selected not only our favorite stylists, but those who exemplify the diverse, lux shopping trends that dominate Palm Beach Style at the m…oment. Palm Beach seems to be in a renaissance, with new energy and a once again thriving Restaurant and social scene.  Some hip, fashion forward stores have also popped up on Worth that just a few years ago couldn’t be found anywhere local.
This week we start 5 on Fashion with cutting edge Stylist, Former New York Men’s Fashion Go to Gal, and current Michael Kors Brand Ambassador at Saks Palm Beach Jessica Baker:
1: Was being in fashion a passion and plan, or did you just fall in to the industry by fate? I always knew I would be in fashion, since I was a little girl. I began my career at Kenneth Cole on 17th and Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. I felt like I was the luckiest girl in the world, and never looked back. Kenneth Cole encouraged me to hone my Men’s fashion acumen, and get to a place of confidence and freedom as a stylist and on the floor. It was the perfect entry into the business.
2:Who is the Palm Beach Shopper? How do the Island locals add to the flavor? The Palm Beach Shopper is a world traveler, always looking for that unique pieces to invest in that can transfer to all cultures and occasions easily. The community is so diverse here, we have clients from 15-80 years old, all fashion forward and basically people who love to shop. Our store-unlike most-have the dresses that were literally on the runway on our floor, so when it comes to local galas and the many charity events on Palm Beach we get that similar satisfaction that Red Carpet Stylists in Hollywood get. When you see a society magazine with a client in a stunning Carolina Herrera or Escada gown you picked out for them it’s a thrill.
3: What’s the worst trend you have seen in your fashion journey so far? Bell Bottoms on high wasted jeans. Enough Already!
4: What do you see emerging as strong trends for the Fall 2013 season? Rock star Lux, rivets and hardware, deep purples and burnt oranges. A real change from age appropriate to everyone being able to pull of these looks.
5: What is your own personal favorite piece of clothing you own? A Hugo Boss Black Liquid Suit-I love it! (You can visit Jessica any day at Saks second floor designer salon at 150 Worth Avenue.
